چکیده

Much progress has been made in developing techniques for characterizing population dynamics of nematodes. Nevertheless, most assay procedures have numerous inherent limitations (1,13). The efficiency of given methods may be dependent on soil type, moisture, and other environmental and biological factors (1,13). Certain extraction methods (e.g., Baermann funnel) depend on nematode motility. In addition, the motility of juveniles of nematodes such as Meloiclogyne javanica (Treub) Chitwood may not be correlated with infectivity (12). These problems can be overcome sometimes through bioassays (1,8,10). The precision in detecting changes in nematode populations over time can be enhanced greatly by determining egg numbers along with other life stages of these organisms (11). Numbers of eggs in cysts of Globodera rostochiensis (Wollenweber) Behrens have long been utilized in the study of this important pathogen (9). The same method is also suitable for Heterodera spp. Procedures for egg assays of Meloidogyne species and other nematodes have been developed more recently (1-4,6). Eggs of

The Effects of Paecilomyces lilacinus on the Pathogenesis of Meloidogyne Javanica and Tomato Plant Growth Parameters

The present study is based on the investigation of a soil hyphomyces, Paecilomyces lilacinus, an opportunistic bio-control agent, in controlling root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica on tomato in greenhouse conditions. P. lilacinus, effectively promoted the growth of plants inoculated with M. javanica by suppressing its pathogenesis as root galling by the nematode and egg mass production was ...

اثر نماتد (Meloidogyne incognita race 2) روی صفات ریشه و اندام‌های هوایی دو رقم حساس و متحمل گوجه‌فرنگی

Root-knot nematodes cause physiological and anatomical disorders in plants. The present study contains the results of an investigation of the effect of Meloidogyne incognita race2 on the growth of roots and aerial organs of tomato under greenhouse conditions. The experiment in a completely randomized design split split plot on two susceptible (Falat Y) and tolerante (Gina VF) tomatoes variety w...

Effect of Initial Density of Meloidogyne javanica on Salvia officinalis

The influence of different initial inoculum densities of the root-knot nematode Meloidogyne javanica on the growth of sage (Salvia officinalis), root-knot development and nematode multiplication was investigated 90 days after inoculation under greenhouse conditions. With the increase in the nematode initial inoculum densities, shoot fresh/dry weight, shoot/root length and root fresh/dry weight ...

Multivariate Analysis of Selected Edaphic Factors and Their Relationship to Heterodera glycines Population Density.

The influence of selected soil physical and chemical factors on population density of Heterodera glycines was investigated in 1988 and 1989 in two different locations of a soybean (Glycine max) field. Soil variables of a Norfolk loamy sand were measured after planting soybeans susceptible to H. glycines. Cyst and egg populations were determined after harvest. Nematode population density was fou...

Relationship between Meloidogyne Incognitadensityand Plant Growth of Okra

Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogynespp.) are the most important pests of vegetables, field crops, and ornamental plants. During our previous study, twenty eight okra cultivars were examined against resistance and Pusa Swami was ranked the most susceptible. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of increasing initial population density (Pi) of M. incognita on nematode reproduction...
